We know it sounds futuristic — but in reality, we’re just a few short steps away from a fully electric future.
In 2019, we charted our path to a greener tomorrow using a holistic approach to control climate and air pollution effects from our manufacturing and drive process. Our goal? Create a full fleet of net carbon-neutral cars that set the standard for automotive excellence without compromising on our commitment to our consumers or the environment.
We plan to do this in a stage of steps, culminating in renewable strategies in use across the Mercedes-Benz manufacturing line.This includes all elements of Mercedes-Benz auto parts, service strategies, and more. This is the foundation of our Ambition 2039.
By 2030, we’ll be halving CO2 emissions per passenger car over the lifecycle compared to 2020 levels. This count will hopefully also include used Mercedes-Benz cars as further advancements are made before 2030.
While there are many different technologies in place to help us attain this goal, we’re guided by a few key focuses:
- Renewable energy — We’ll be using this energy type across the production process and implementing capacity for it in our vehicles.
- Improved battery tech — We’re harnessing the best tech in its class to bring you a better overall experience and a greener result for the world we live in.
- Recycling and reusing — We’ll be electrifying the fleet with green energy and leveraging recycled materials to create the Mercedes-Benz auto body you know and love.
